What your child will learn: Ratios, Rates & Percents
- A ratio compares two amounts: 2 cups flour to 1 cup sugar is 2:1.
- A rate compares different units: 120 miles in 2 hours = 60 miles per hour.
- 'Percent' means 'out of 100'. 45% = 45/100 = 0.45.
- To find 20% of 50: convert to decimal (0.20) and multiply: 0.20 × 50 = 10. Or find 10% (5) and double it!
