What your child will learn: Physics: Energy & Electricity
- Energy forms: kinetic (motion), potential (stored), thermal, chemical, electrical, nuclear. A rollercoaster at the top is pure potential; the drop converts it to kinetic!
- Conservation of energy: total energy stays constant. KE = ½mv², PE = mgh.
- Electricity is flowing electrons. Ohm's Law: V = IR (voltage = current × resistance). Circuits need a closed loop.
- Series circuits share one path (one bulb dies, all die); parallel circuits give each device its own path; that's how your house is wired.

1. Calculate KE of a 4 kg object at 3 m/s.
Answer: KE = ½ × 4 × 9 = 18 joules
2. Why are homes wired in parallel, not series?
