What your child will learn: Pre-Calculus & Statistics for Life
- Logarithms undo exponents: log₂(8) = 3 because 2³ = 8. They measure earthquakes (Richter) and sound (decibels)!
- Sequences: arithmetic adds a constant (3, 7, 11, ...); geometric multiplies (2, 6, 18, ...). Sum formulas predict totals fast.
- Statistics: mean (average), median (middle, resists outliers!), mode (most common), standard deviation (spread). One billionaire in a room skyrockets the MEAN income but barely moves the MEDIAN.
- Probability: independent events multiply. P(two heads) = ½ × ½ = ¼. Compound interest A = P(1 + r/n)ⁿᵗ is 'the eighth wonder of the world.'
