- 20 ÷ 4 asks: 'If 20 cookies are shared by 4 friends, how many does each get?' Answer: 5.
- Division undoes multiplication: since 4 × 5 = 20, we know 20 ÷ 4 = 5.
- A fraction like 3/4 means 3 pieces out of 4 equal pieces. Bottom number (denominator) = total pieces; top (numerator) = pieces you have.
- Bigger denominator = smaller pieces! 1/8 of a pizza is smaller than 1/4.
