What your child will learn: Greek & Latin Roots
- A root is the core of a word that carries its meaning, often borrowed from Greek or Latin.
- port (Latin: to carry) → transport, import, export, portable.
- tele (Greek: far) → telephone, telescope, television.
- graph / scrib (write) → autograph, paragraph, describe, scribble.
- aqua (water), bio (life), geo (earth), micro (small), photo (light). Spot a root and you can often work out a word you have never seen.
